Art quilt made of cotton and poly/cotton fabrics, yarn, thread, glue, and fabric paint. It was created as part of a series to celebrate the natural hair of people of the African diaspora. In this imagery besides the cylindrical similarities, I chose the bamboo plant for its strength in structure. Much like locked, intertwined hair, the bamboo’s vascular make-up and growth pattern enables it to stay firm and unyielding to the elements.
